Aaron Cowan > Luminosity masks don't make a huge difference for this picture but I was able to preserve the sun better given it more true orange glow rather than the burnt out disc that my original post shows. When I was shooting the sunset in Crescent City, CA I was using the rock in the left of this frame to block the sun as it was setting. Fortunately I stepped to the side a little and was able to see the sun dip below the horizon. I quickly composed and shot as the sun faded away.
Aaron Cowan > Twilight at Delicate Arch. The best light had been greatly diffused by clouds along the horizon but twilight still gave the arch and surrounding area a great glow, particularly the soft alpenglow on the La Sals.

Aaron Cowan > Stanley Lake at sunset. I had spent some time earlier in the afternoon scouting aspens when the sun dropped behind a huge cloud that covered most of the sky. I figured Stanley Lake was my best chance at a good sunset. I drove over there despite the gray, flat lighting and waited. About 30 minutes before sunset, light started to hit McGown peak and then the clouds broke up and gave a pretty nice display.
