Aaron Cowan > Mountains pass between Upper Redfish Lakes and Alpine Lake in Redfish Lake Creek Canyon. This is about 1000' about Alpine Lake. The descent wasn't too bad despite the pitch but I definitely wouldn't want to walk up this same way! Braxon Peak is back on the right and Horstman is barely visible on the left side (just peaking above on of the peaks in the foreground).

Aaron Cowan > The shore of Alpine Creek Lake '8523. Although the two pictures of the sunset I took at this lake capture the whole scene it still doesn't convey the overwhelming size of the ridge above the lake. Since the sun was still strongly lighting the ridge with everything else in deep shadows I decided to look along the shore for something interesting. These rocks and grasses with the reflection of the ridge caught my eye.

Aaron Cowan > This was taken at the first pond below Alpine Creek Lake '9167. As we were walking along the trail the piece of ice floating in the lake along with the snow banks caught my eye. I really liked the symmetry of the scene, especially with the reflection in the pond.
Aaron Cowan > Cascade down granite. There was a notch in granite which this water was flowing through and it caught my eye. This is a stream running from Alpine Creek Lake '9167 which runs through many ponds and lakes on its way to Alturas Lake Creek.
Aaron Cowan > Dawn at Alpine Creek Lake '8523. The morning wasn't very spectacular but I was able to go up the hillside and get a view of the ridge beyond the lake. Soft diffused light was lighting up the ridge but the overall color of the scene was flat so I chose B&W for this.
