The Owyhee Canyonlands are a huge area in the wide open spaces of Malheur (Oregon) and Owyhee (Idaho) counties. These counties together are over 17,000 square miles and have a total population density just over 2 people/sq mi. Not many people live there and not too many go there either since most roads required high clearance and/or 4WD. This may not come close to rivaling the canyons of the Colorado Plateau but for the relatively short drive from Boise, it serves me well for there are endless outdoor adventures in this high desert area.
