Leatherman Peak and Pass Lake. Our camp was at Pass Lake (a very beautiful area) and I was going to wait until sunset time to take some photos of Leatherman Peak. The late afternoon light was pretty good so I figured I'd go over to the far side of the lake to scout out some shots. I ultimately decided to go back and get my gear and take some shots since I didn't know if sunset would be good or not. The sunset was blocked by clouds so this was some of the best available light of the afternoon.

This past December (2008) in Idaho there was about a week long span where the weather stayed below freezing. I figured it would be a good time to visit Jump Creek Falls and see what it looked like. This is a detailed shot of the falls with ice all around.

Detailed photo of Succor Creek. Succor Creek State Park is located in extreme Southeastern Oregon. I drove out there one day on what looked to be promising weather (at least in Boise) but after two hours of driving the clouds moved in and it was very overcast. I settled for a little hike down the canyon to the creek due to the conditions.

Leatherman Peak and Pass Lake in afternoon light. I have a 2:3 crop (native dimensions) posted on this site but the middle- and upper-left hand parts of the picture were empty. I decided to try out a square crop and the result is much more pleasing. I also made a few more changes to the sky and Leatherman Peak.

This is the upper emerald pool in Zion. As you can guess it was a little cool this day, especially for this area which remained in the shade practically all day. There was a snowfall (not a waterfall) continually coming down from the canyon. The rocks on top of the ice are from people's attempts to break it. The ice was actually pretty thick.
